Ninja’s were masters of espionage, assassination and infiltration of their enemies

which meant ninja weapons were largely designed and developed so they could

be easily concealed and hidden from view so the ninja could unleash them on their

enemies without being detected.

Ninja weapons came in many forms and were sometimes not really weapons, but were everyday implements that could be used as a weapon, for example the Kunai, which was originally a gardening tool that could be either concealed from view or it could be carried when the ninja was in disguise as a common gardener.

This list of ninja weapons is not the complete ninja arsenal but it does include the most commonly used weapons known to be used by ninja warriors in ancient times.

While the ninja did use a wide variety of weaponry it would be uncommon for a ninja to be carrying more than a few weapons at any one time. This is due mainly to the ninja needing to be able to move quickly and quietly and also to keep the weapons hidden from site during assassination missions.

A ninja would select the most suitable weapons needed for the next mission and would only carry what was needed. This is true of the larger ninja weapons, however, a ninja would always have various small weapons concealed and ready for use if needed, such as daggers, ninja swords, ninja stars, blinding powder and smoke bombs.

Probably the most famous and well known of the ninja’s weapon arsenal was the shuriken, or throwing star. The ninja star was commonly used to stun, injure, scare and create diversions against ninja enemies and if thrown accurately, ninja stars could even kill an enemy instantly or slowly over time from loss of blood.

Probably the biggest myth surrounding ninja weapons is the belief that ninja’s used nun chuks. While it is difficult to confirm either way, there is little evidence to support that ninja did use such a weapon.

The least known weapon of all that was used by the ninja to regularly outwit, outsmart and escape their enemies was the ninja’s ability to control and make use of their mind.

Ninja were very connected with the workings of the universe and were able to tap into the hidden power of the sub-conscious mind to achieve amazing and seemingly impossible feats, like being able to jump extremely high and to disappear in and out of the shadows without a trace and to overcome vastly larger groups of samurai warriors single handedly.
